10 of our research plots are situated within old secondary forests, mostly on cocoa farms. Normaly not all areas are used for agroforestry. Also on Fazenda Bom Pastor just 20 hectares are used for cocoa cultivation, thus most areas are forest in different stages of recovery. Hence in some areas you can find old tree giants with wide spreading buttress roots.
